Outstanding Student Award
To earn an Outstanding Student Award, the student must meet the following criteria:
- First, he/she must have a minimum goal of 7 and achieve the goal for each lab during the week.
- Second, the student must complete 70% of his/her work judged at Standard of Best in order to be eligible for the Outstanding Student Award. If the student achieves his/her goal but does not reach the minimum Standard of Best criteria, a lesser award is not presented.
- Third, the student must commit himself/herself to achieving his/her goal every lab even if it means continuing to work after lab and/or taking work home for completion. Any work not completed by the end of last lab must be taken home to be done as incomplete work.
As a reward for taking this step of growth, he/she is allowed to work in the Independent Studies Program upon completing one work unit beyond the goal for the lab.
At Affective Level 5, the Independent Studies Program enables the student to select from a legion of educational computer programs. The student is also enabled to arrange the order in which he/she does the curriculum during each lab.
