Responsible Student Award

To earn a Responsible Student Award, the student must meet the following criteria:

  • First, he/she must have a goal of at least 6 and achieve the goal for each lab during the week.
  • Second, the student must complete 60% of his/her work judged at Standard of Best in order to be eligible for the Responsible Student Award.
  • Third, the student must commit himself/herself to achieving his/her goal every lab even if it means continuing to work after lab.

The student in essence is taking a substantial step of growth by willfully prioritizing his/her commitment to learn over the desire to play. Most of the time, if a child does not complete his/her goal during lab, it is because of lack of effort.

Once the student has completed one work unit beyond their goal, any additional work units are applied to the next lab. After reaching their goal in the last lab they will be allowed to enter Independent Studies.

At Affective Level 4, the Independent Studies Program enables the student to select from a legion of educational computer programs.
